Underneath the floor of our downstairs we have a network of plastic tubes for hot water which will be our heat downstairs. Referred to as radiant heat, it stays a constant temperature and is fed by its own small water heater.
We are using this heat downstairs and in our office/library upstairs which is also built on a slab.
Our slab floor arrived via a long hose which pumped cement in large glops which the crew endeavored to smooth out as quickly as possible before it dried.
They smoothed and evened out the cement by first dragging a board across the cement which was guided by other boards that were place with a laser to assure the levelness of the floor. Then, the cement work was finished off with a hand trowel. Whew! It was a lot of work and the guys did a wonderful job. It took all day to get the downstairs and one room upstairs done.
