We're Building a House
Episode 27: Some Features We Really Like
1. Two sinks in the kitchen. Our deal is, she cooks and I clean. Instead of waiting, squeezing in, pushing, shoving, working around and being irritated with each other, we each have our own sink. The brands are the same. Both are single basin with the same faucets. With two sinks, I don't get in her way when she prepares a meal (she's a wonderful cook), and she doesn't get in my way when I clean up - I like to clean while she's cooking, which used to really annoy her. I think
it's a great idea, and I'm sure it has saved my life on many occasions.

2. The wine cellar. Just before we started construction, we were
looking at the plans and thought "what if we excavated a little more down here under the kitchen. We're underground at this point, so why not put in a wine cellar?" We talked to our architect and our builder, and they made it happen. An underground cellar is ideal for wine
storage. The temperature stays between 55 and 59 degrees. We have enough storage for 800 bottles - almost a year's supply.
