We're Building a House
Episode 9: A Room of My Own
This house was designed with a room just for Kay (me). It is called The Meditation Room. While Walt is happy just claiming a quite spot in the house, wherever that might be at the time, to play his guitar or read - I am lusting after dedicated space.
It is tiny, but has several small windows which will be filled with colored glass, and one window that opens. This room is my space to put in what I want, with a small boom box to play my music. It is a room into which my dog and cat will not be allowed to follow me. (As Roger Miller said, "No phone, no pool, no pets…") It is a room where I can do my vipasana mediation or just listen to operatic arias and cry at the beauty of the music.
And speaking of beauty - Walt and I are thankful every day for this beautiful place. We never tire of looking at the ocean, the trees, and the wildlife. The sounds of our coastal haven are comforting and restorative. Breathing the air here is medicinal. Life seems to surge from everywhere saying, "Look at me!"
These are just a few thoughts while we wait…about 7 more months.
