Coast Woodworking

Being largely self taught, Susan Walsh has a thorough grounding in the craft of woodworking. Mid-career, she studied with Master Cabinetmaker James Krenov and continues to be deeply influenced by his attention to detail and the character of the wood.

Walsh works closely with clients to create the perfect, custom, one-of-a-kind piece for their home. As well, she designs and creates limited edition lines of furniture through her "Coastline" division.

She focuses on proportion and a use of woods with an eye for color and grain. When left to create on her own, her work may turn toward more "sculptural" pieces which still retain their roots in being utlitarian.

She has exhibited her work in several furniture and woodworking venues, including the prestigious "Table, Lamp and Chair" juried exposition of contemporary furniture designers. Her interest in traditional furniture extends from Shaker to Classic Chinese.
